Latest Findings From Norfolk RISE Up Impact Report & Fully Funded Training For Norfolk Educators

In this week's blog, we are delighted to announce the findings from our latest Norfolk RISE Up Impact Report. In addition, all primary, secondary, and special school educators in Norfolk can receive fully funded CPD for our RISE Up Early Intervention Mental Wellbeing and Trauma Informed PE teacher training courses this academic year.

As we continue to navigate the complexities of today’s educational landscape, the importance of supporting our students' mental wellbeing cannot be overstated.

Just last week, NHS data showed that NHS referrals for anxiety in children are more than double pre-Covid levels. More than 500 children a day, or one every three minutes, are being referred to mental health services in England.

Empowering educators is more important than ever as part of a solution towards better mental health for our children.

Norfolk RISE Up Impact Report Findings

Thanks to Norfolk County Council, the Norfolk RISE Up programme is set to continue its impactful journey into the 2024-25 school year.

The programme has already reached over 70 schools and enhanced the lives of more than 30,000 young people over the last 2 years.

Proven Impact: What the Data Shows

  • School Wellbeing Scorecard: In seven schools that implemented our School Wellbeing Scorecard, there was an average improvement of 31% in wellbeing provisions. This marks a significant enhancement in our environments and support systems.

  • Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS): Among five schools evaluated, teachers reported an average increase of 20% in student wellbeing scores after participating in our programmes.

For colleagues eager to dive deeper into the transformative journeys from 8 of our partner schools and to explore detailed case studies, we invite you to access the full impact report here

Key Features of Our Programme

The 'Norfolk RISE Up' programme aims to equip frontline educators with the tools and knowledge to address the mental wellbeing needs of students.

The early intervention programme's four aims are:

  1. Early Identification and Support: Identify individual young people struggling with their mental health and direct them to specialist support as early as possible.

  2. Prioritising Relationships: Train educators to transform their relationships with students, thereby improving wellbeing, engagement, behaviour, and academic progress.

  3. Building a Self-Care Toolbox: Provide young people with a range of self-care strategies to protect and enhance their mental wellbeing.

  4. Teach the Link between Movement and Mental Wellbeing: Emphasise the connection between physical activity and mental health, encouraging a holistic approach to wellbeing.

The Norfolk RISE Up programme provides fully funded access to Future Action's RISE Up Early Intervention Mental Wellbeing and Trauma Informed PE Teacher Training Courses. Over 600 teachers are already benefiting from this initiative.
