As we approach the half-term break, we’d like to take a moment to thank you all for your incredible efforts.
This half term, we’ve been thrilled to see the RISE Up community grow significantly, welcoming colleagues we've met at conferences, from schools across the UK and internationally, as well as trainee teachers from universities. You are all very welcome, and your contributions are helping to transform children's lives.
On 11th October, we spoke at the Active Sussex PE CPD day at the Amex Stadium.
We spent the day introducing colleagues to Trauma-Informed PE, experimenting with RISE Up early intervention mental wellbeing strategies, and hearing from Paul Collin (Headteacher) and Gary Weedon (Head of PE) about how they’ve transformed their PE curriculum at Bohunt School Worthing using student voice and the RISE Up principles.
You can read their brilliant case study here.
Brilliant colleagues then created bespoke action plans for their context using our 6 Step Overcoming Overwhelm Process.
Following the conference, 28 schools signed up to be part of a more comprehensive Sussex RISE Up programme, committed to supporting young people and each other through this movement.
We are now working with Active Sussex and multi-agency partners to source funding that will make this community more impactful and sustainable moving forward, so we can support young people in Sussex.
The RISE Up Community on a Shared Mission
The RISE Up community is a growing movement of educators, organisations, and multi-agency partners united by a shared mission: to transform children’s mental wellbeing and life chances.
Our initial mission is to fill the equivalent of Centre Court at Wimbledon with 15,000 educators committed to transforming children's mental wellbeing and life chances.
As our community expands, we are one step closer to achieving this vision and ensuring that every child can flourish.
In our RISE Up programme, relationships take centre stage, and educators are empowered to create bespoke programmes tailored to the needs of their context and young people.
This flexibility allows schools to address specific challenges and priorities, ensuring that wellbeing strategies are relevant and impactful to you and your young people.
Collaborating with Leading Organisations
Our impact is made possible through partnerships with like-minded organisations. Norfolk Virtual School, for example, fund the Norfolk RISE Up programme, enabling us to support schools across the region with timely resources and training.
These collaborations help create safer and more supportive learning environments for children who need them the most.
Recently, we’ve shared insights at conferences like the Oxfordshire Healthy & Active Young People Conference and on webinars for the Attachment Research Community and the Polyvagal Institute.
These events offer valuable opportunities to connect with educators and share how movement, psychological safety, and mental wellbeing strategies can transform young lives.
Next half term, we are looking forward to presenting at the following conferences and meeting brilliant educators:
Manchester - Manchester PE, Sport and Wellbeing ‘24 Conference - 7th November
Bangkok - Phase Asia Pacific Conference - 16th & 17th November
Wirral - Move Well Conference - 29th November
We would love for you to join us.
We have plenty more conferences lined up for 2025 in Norfolk, Surrey, Hampshire, Liverpool, and London. We can’t wait to meet you in person.
Building RISE Up Communities Across the Country
The RISE Up community continues to expand, with networks being established across Manchester, Stoke, Wirral, Telford & Wrekin, Dudley, Suffolk, Sussex, Surrey, Oxfordshire, the North East, and Devon.
These regions are becoming hubs of innovation, where educators, schools, trusts, universities, virtual schools, and public health organisations collaborate to transform children's outcomes.
Together, we are building resilient, happy young people by co-creating programmes tailored to local needs.
An Invitation to Collaborate
As we continue to grow, we invite you to join the RISE Up community. Whether you’re an educator, a school, a trust, a school sports partnership, a virtual school, a county sports partnership, a national organisation, or a potential funder, we welcome you to be part of our movement.
