A Week of Inspiration and Connection Across the North West
Wirral RISE Up Official Launch
On Wednesday, we officially launched the Wirral RISE Up movement, bringing together 13 primary, secondary, and special schools at our fantastic lead school, Clare Mount Specialist Sports College. (Look out for their brilliant case study in the coming months.)
Funded by Wirral Virtual School, this community is focused on embedding trauma-informed practices and movement for mental wellbeing to create lasting change for their young people.
We are thrilled to welcome 13 new partner schools to the Wirral RISE Up programme — and look forward to supporting you develop and implement your bespoke RISE Up programmes.
Expanding the Manchester RISE Up Community
On Thursday, we travelled to Manchester to meet inspiring educators and multi-agency partners who are eager to be part of the expanding Manchester RISE Up movement.
It was fantastic to connect with schools and organisations who share our mission to create safe, inclusive spaces where young people’s mental wellbeing is a top priority.
A warm welcome to colleagues from Parrs Wood High School, our newest partner in Manchester! We are excited to support your journey in transforming mental health through movement, relationships, and early intervention.
Capturing Impact in Liverpool
By Friday, we were back in Liverpool, continuing to partner with schools from the Liverpool RISE Up programme to document their amazing impact through case studies.
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing these powerful stories of transformation.
Fostering Belonging at ASCL Conference
On Saturday, we had the privilege of co-presenting a workshop at the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) Conference in Liverpool, alongside the fantastic trio of Andy Wright OBE (Attachment Research Community), Emily York (The Mighty Creatives), and Sarah Rivers (Staffordshire Virtual School).
Our session, "Include Me, I Need to Belong: A Cultural Entitlement for All Learners," explored how we can create spaces where every young person feels they belong.
We focused on Inclusive Teams and how PE, School Sport, and physical activity can build belonging and connection — not just on the sports field, but throughout the school day.
We also shared real-life examples from Liverpool schools like Belvedere Academy, Kings Leadership Academy, and Hope School, showcasing the impact of this approach in action.
RISE Up Around the World: A Global Movement for Mental Wellbeing
Beyond England, RISE Up is becoming a truly global community, with recent connections made in Scotland, New Zealand, Asia, the USA, and Africa.
We’re proud to share that we will be:
Presenting at the PHASE Conference 2025 in Shanghai, China (19–20 April), introducing our 'Beyond The Game' programme, which helps young people optimise performance through polyvagal-informed strategies for regulation, both on the sports field and in the classroom. Find out more here.
Speaking at The World Teacher Games 2025 in Toulon, France (5–10 May), leading conversations on inclusion and belonging in PE. Find out more here.
We would love you to join us at either (or both!) of these international events to connect, share ideas, and grow this global movement.
